Bernie Sanders might be facing an uphill battle in his campaign to become president but he got a major endorsement earlier today. Lil B, whose Based God blessing has turned into a legitimate cultural phenomenon over the last couple years, took to Twitter to announce that he's putting his support behind the longtime Vermont Senator and presidential hopeful this afternoon. Part of the news is that Sanders follows Lil B on Twitter, which is just smart politics if we're being honest. But Lil B, days after sending out a vague Tweet that offered some of his characteristic love to the politician, got a little more serious about his support yesterday and today.

Last week Based God sent out the following Tweet:

I don't no Bernie sanders but I want to say I love him and his family I hope he represents honesty and love @BernieSanders - Lil B

And then he caught wind that Sanders was following him on Twitter and shared word that the Vermonter is a pretty cool guy.

The streets and the hood is showing love to Bernie @BernieSanders @SenSanders and sayin he got good morals and he follows Lil B LOVE - Lil B

Finally, this afternoon, Lil B let out the official nod of support.

As much as I want to a woman leading the USA, right now it's all about Bernie @BernieSanders @SenSanders he's the real he loves us - Lil B

Based God went on to send out a few more Tweets, not only hyping up Sanders' resume, but also acknowledging that the Twitter love is no small deal in American politics.

I herd Bernie @BernieSanders @SenSanders marched against segregation in the 60s which was not long ago! I love that brave dude! - Lil B
