Spotify has analyzed 20 billion tracks and has come to the conclusion that hip-hop is the most listened to genre in the world. They've created a live map that shows listening trends in over 1,000 cities across the globe and almost every specialized city playlist includes at least one hip-hop track. This may not come to a surprise to some, though, because Kendrick's To Pimp A Butterfly and Drake's If You're Reading This It's Too Late broke single day streaming records during their respective releases. Their "Musical Map: Cities of the World" is updated bi-monthly with the most listened to songs in specific cities. According to Spotify, the purpose is to help users discover new music from various parts of the world. Click on any city on the map, and you'll be prompted to a Spotify link that'll take you to a playlist of the most popular songs in any given city.
