It's hard to take anything Damon Albarn says seriously. He's spent most of the past few years going back and forth on whether or not his bands Blur or Gorillaz were ever coming back—giving us hope, then swiftly taking it away with a definitive "no." But the Britpop icon has been on a roll lately—despite all odds—successfully reuniting Blur and coming back with the fantastic The Magic Whip earlier this year (one of our favorite albums of 2015 so far).

All signs point to the Gorillaz album being most definitely in the works, rather than another troll comment from Albarn (stop playing with my heart, dude). On Australian TV ABC 7.30, the singer said, "I'm starting recording in September for a new Gorillaz record. I've just been really, really busy so I haven't had a chance. I'd love to just get back into that routine of being at home and coming to the studio five days a week." Hardcore fans of the virtual animation band may have seen this coming, thanks to the band's other half, Jamie Hewlett, dropping Instagram hints a few months ago. Hewlett also confirmed with three small but magical words: "Yes Gorillaz Returns." Exciting!!!

This will be Gorillaz's first record since 2011's The Fall.
