Ed Sheeran on the MTV VMAs: "I Think The Minaj Point Is a Bit Redundant"

Ed Sheeran defends Taylor Swift and says, "It's not her fault."

While Bruno Mars jokingly grabbed Ed Sheeran's attention on Twitter the other day in the midst of all the Twitter exchanges about the VMA's between Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift, the UK singer has now offered his own input.

@BrunoMars any way we do dis you gon' come up short

To many not-surprisingly, he offers his two cents in support of his longtime friend and collaborator Taylor. "She didn't nominate herself for the awards," he told The Daily Telegraph. "It's not her fault, she just made some good videos and people think they're good....And I think the Minaj point is a bit redundant, her point is that you have to be skinny and white to get a video of the year nomination but Beyoncé's '7/11' is in there and that is celebrating the female figure in every form."

Meanwhile, Katy Perry took the opportunity to revel in their bad blood and throw some shade Taylor's way with her own tweet. While Ed might mean well coming to his friend's defense, he also might be missing the larger point of why Nicki was right to call the VMA's racist. At least Taylor has since apologized to Nicki for her tweets.
