If you haven't heard, Kanye West will be blessing Toronto with his presence at the end of the month, as he'll be closing the Pan Am Games this year, with co-headliners Pitbull and Serena Ryder. All in all, it’s sure to be a very lit occasion.

While we anxiously await Mr. West’s arrival, we must—yet again—deal with someone looking to sabotage the party by way of another online petition. Citing homegrown pride, the movement looks to replace Kanye's Pan Am performance, in favor of a Canadian artist. While the committee is unlikely to change their mind, the online petition has picked up nearly 40,000 backers on Change.org at time of publication. A cursory glance at Twitter confirms it: many Canadians unwilling to embrace the divine teachings of Yeezus.

This isn’t the first time a scheduled performance from Ye has seen some resistance. Earlier this year, we reported that his Glastonbury show garnered some heat as well. Kanye responded, claiming that the petition was an “insult to music fans.”

Expect to see Kanye’s glorious rebuttal, when he performs on July 26th at the Pan Am Dome. The event will stream online and on outdoor screens at Toronto’s City Hall.
