Nicki Minaj’s ex Safaree Samuels caused quite a stir this week when a snippet of his upcoming single, “Love The Most,” revealed intimate details about his 12-year relationship with the rap/pop icon.

In the song, Samuels raps about their troubled relationship from the past until now. He addresses their possible engagement, his jealously after seeing her kiss Nas in the “Right By My Side” video, and feeling like a “motherfuckin’ fool.” After a few days of silence, Minaj finally responded to the record with a series of tweets going off on Samuels. Still, she kept it classy and ended with a positive note: “"Making a 12 yr relationship work at such young ages? We're BOTH the real MVP. things got rocky at the end but we had a GREAT run. #B4Ujudge.”

Now, in a new interview with TMZ, Samuels claims that “Love The Most” isn’t a diss record, but rather serves as a platform for him to explain his side of the story. “I’m happy now, I couldn’t be happier. I didn’t put the song out as a [diss]," he says. "It’s not a diss song. It’s not trying to air nothing out. It’s just me explaining where I’m coming from.”

Samuels also alludes that Minaj might’ve cheated on him too. “It’s a two-way street,” he says in response to whether he cheated to get back at her.
