Jay Z and Tidal have scored a significant win today with the announcement that Hot 97's legendary Summer Jam festival will be streamed exclusively on the service. The stream will include every performance throughout the day, exclusive interviews with artists, and a playback of the entire show afterwards for 24 hours. It remains to be seen how this news will be received, since the festival has been streamed for free in the past through the station.
Kendrick Lamar, Big Sean, Childish Gambino, Meek Mill, Chris Brown, and more are all slated to perform on the main stage at the festival this year, with the festival stage performances starting at 2 p.m. on Sunday. For Tidal, this news comes just days after they rolled out a new desktop app and partnership with Ticketmaster, which makes it easier for their users to attend concerts.
