The 1975 have been teasing that a big announcement was coming June 1. Yesterday, they sent the internet on fire when they tweeted out a cryptic comic strip that had fans frantic they were hinting at a breakup. The strip explains "Firstly we must reclaim our identity & repossess our control of it...Until then there won't be any pop music or dancing with long hair." They clip culminates "As much as we might like things to stay the same, change is an inevitable part of life...So we must leave. With a parting 'We love you' -- We are already gone."

Since the announcement, the band has undergone a social media blackout deleting their Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts with the comic strip only remaining on band manager Jamie Oborne's Twitter account.

UPDATE: The 1975 have reactivated all of their social media accounts including Twitter, Facebook and Instagram with their profile picture as a solid pink box leading us to believe that while they're changing, they're still going to be around. Stay tuned.
