Toronto pop powerhouse DCF is setting himself up for a big summer. With a guest appearance on Jazz Cartier’s “Always Up To Something,” and a brand new EP dropping soon, this remixed homage to rom-com royalty arrives right on time.

DCF (full name: David Charles Fischer) initially penned the pop banger for an ex-flame. "I wrote the song because I was really sad at the time and wanted to write a passive aggressive love song that my ex-girlfriend would hear,” DCF told Complex. “But then I realized that was cheesy, so I wrote a song about feeling like John Cusack instead."

DCF enlisted one of his favorite producers to tackle a remix for “John Cusack.” Toronto-bred phenom Harrison gives the bouncy, radio-ready vibes of the original a much sadder spin. "I was in a weird mood while making the remix,” Harrison said. “I wanted this pop song to be a little more upset sounding."

This wistful approach certainly made an impression on DCF. “I was walking home in the morning when Harry sent me this, and it was one of the first sunny days here in Toronto. I actually started crying," DCF said.

Look out your window. It’s DCF in the rain, holding a boombox playing your new favorite ambient electro remix. Stream Harrison’s “John Cusack” flip below, and don’t miss DCF’s live show at NXNE on Friday, June 19th at the Rivoli.
