Following their explosive debut album Secondhand Rapture in 2013, MS MR made their long awaited return last month with the release of their new single "Painted." All sky-scraping synths and thundering bassline, the song is driven by its relentless hook as singer Lizzy Plapinger's vocals strip away everything you thought would happen to paint a perfect storm of hard-hitting pop. Today, the duo unleash the song's accompanying visuals. Directed by Tabitha Denholm (Jessie J, HAIM), the video details a wild world of serum-induced experiments, forcing the natural and unnatural together in one psychological simulation.

MS MR explained to The FADER they were "heavily inspired by Kubrick as well as the 1970s documentary The Secret Life of Plants. We wanted to explore the juxtaposition of natural and unnatural environments and what happens when they're forced to reckon with one another. The end result is a virtual reality psychedelic experiment gone awry—welcome to the odyssey.”

Watch what happens above and look out for MS MR’s sophomore album How Does It Feel out July 17 featuring Tove Lo, MNDR and more.
