Drake’s Record Label Will Receive $45,000 In Funding From Ontario Music Fund

It’s almost enough for a nice night out at Swish, Sotto, and Joso’s with the squad.

As we previously reported, Drake’s OVO Fest was denied provincial funding earlier this year. Well, someone with some serious money to blow is about to ease The Boy’s pain. As it turns out, Drake’s record label OVO Sound will be receiving some love from the government of Ontario after all. While nowhere near as vast as the OVO Fest $300,000 grant he received in 2014, the Ontario Music Fund is still handing OVO Sound some cold hard cash.

While there’s yet to be any word on how the money will be spent, we do know that $45,000 will be injected into the city’s most popular music collective. It’s a pretty paltry sum compared to the six-figure grants handed out to some other Canadian record labels, but it's better than nothing. Hopefully this means the 6 God can spend more time scouring the streets of Toronto for more talent like Majid Jordan and PARTYNEXTDOOR. If nothing else, it could also be a nice night out at Swish, Sotto, and Joso’s with the squad.
