Chauncey Mahan, the sound engineer for Roc-a-fella in the years 1999-2000 a.k.a. the dynasty years, sued Jay Z back in July, claiming ownership of the masters for The Dynasty and The Life and Times of S. Carter. Apparently, he was holding the physical tracks hostage in a San Fernando storage facility. Roc Nation then filed an extortion complaint against Chauncey, and the masters were eventually recovered by the police.

Today, TMZ reports, the case has been closed against Mr. Mahan, the judge having ruled the objects in question too far in the past to be brought up and sued over now. The tide, it seems, has fallen on this lawsuit.
