Every year, Canadian Music Week brings a myriad of first-rate music programming to Toronto, but the festival’s conference component is not to be overlooked. This year is no exception: CMW has just announced a Keynote Interview with acclaimed film director Spike Lee on May 9th, 2015.

Over his four-decade career, the Brooklyn-raised filmmaker has made an undeniable impact on film as an art-form, telling provocative, challenging stories via classic titles like Do The Right Thing, She’s Gotta Have It, Jungle Fever, Malcom X, and many more. As part of Spike Lee’s CMW appearance, a special screening of Do The Right Thing will take place at the Royal Cinema in Toronto on May 10th, followed by a Q&A with Lee himself.

This news follows the announcement that Spike Lee has partnered with Complex Media, as a Board Advisor for Video Products and Branded Content.

You can register for CMW’s conferences (including the Spike Lee keynote) here, and pick up tickets for the Do The Right Thing screening and Q&A at the Royal Cinema here.

Canadian Music Week runs from May 1st to May 10th. Check out the full schedule and buy wristbands here.
