Taylor Swift Donated $50K to New York City Public Schools

It looks like Taylor Swift has started to fulfill her promise to donate the proceeds from her song "Welcome to New York" to the city's education system. According to Capital, Swift recently donated $50,000 to the Department of Education to support schools in the city without restrictions on the spending. Back in October, Swift announced that she would donate the proceeds of the song to the school system, and since then the single has been certified gold with over 500,000 copies sold. Swift has yet to officially announce the donation but the DOE has already confirmed with Capital. No word on how much more Swift plans to donate, but it's good to see her backing up her promises.
