After more than a decade at BBC Radio 1, DJ Zane Lowe has announced that he's leaving the station and headed to Apple, where he's rumored to help guide the formation of Apple's Beats-powered streaming service. New Zealand-born Lowe is one of Britain's most influential DJs, having played a role in breaking acts like Adele, Ed Sheeran, and the Arctic Monkeys and interviewed some of music's biggest stars. There's been no official word yet on Lowe's official job title—all we know is that it's connected to iTunes and iTunes Radio—but with rumors that Apple may be masterminding a record label as well as a Beats streaming service, it would figure that Lowe might be playing a role in that venture. Lowe's final BBC show will air March 5; he'll be replaced by DJ Annie Mac. "I want to thank everyone at Radio 1 for their support and friendship," Lowe said. "The station has allowed me to share incredible music with the country's best music fans."
