The Chemical Brothers - "The Salmon Dance (Mad Villains' 2015 Revibe)"

Remixes, re-rubs, re-fixes, reworks, edits, rebuilds–to be honest, I'm hella tired of all the words we throw around for naming flips of other tracks

Remixes, re-rubs, re-fixes, reworks, edits, rebuilds–to be honest, I'm hella tired of all the words we throw around for naming flips of other tracks, because they've long sailed past the point of any actual meaning. Seeing one of my all-time favorite tracks with an inane "revibe" next to it raised my eyebrows in a not-so-great way, but Mad Villains is no dummy with his productions, and this is a flip that actually blew me away from start to finish. Giving the timeless Chemical Brothers banger a fresh sheen of laid-back UK garage and house vibes, Mad Villains comfortably ascertains that "revibe" might be the best word for what he's done here. Reinventing a tune loved by so many into a mostly original production that doesn't ruin the OG tune is no simple feat, but this feels all-too-comfortable for Mad Villains, and we gotta say we dig it.
