UK-based producer salute is gearing up to drop his forthcoming Silver Tides EP on his own imprint Dime Club next month and today, we're premiering the shimmering title track. A month after premiering his Vanessa Elisha-assisted single "Real Cool," the title track off Silver Tides is a bare-boned, synth-driven woozy look at what he has to offer on his project as a whole, and the track's climaxes are so overwhelmingly stunning, "Silver Tides" will leave you wanting more. If that sample sounds familiar to you, it's recorded by RobLaw and not a rip of Justin Timberlake's "Suit and Tie," as well.

Stream the track below and check out a short Q&A with the producer, too:

How did you get your start in music?

I started making music when I was about 14, although I'd been messing around with software for a little longer. I knew nothing about production and was oblivious to the countless online tutorials (don't ask me how) so I taught myself FL Studio (Yes! I use Fruity Loops and have been for four years). I was making music under a different moniker back then, producing mainly drum and bass, after two or three official releases I quit out of boredom, and in mid 2012, I found myself producing hip-hop instrumentals. I'd always been a sucker for nice synths so using them in my music felt natural to me. Around that time, I was listening to a lot of (now old) Disclosure, their Carnival EP was probably what put me onto the whole new "UK bass" movement. I loved the quirkiness as well as the creativity in those tracks, the title track "Carnival" still blows me away today. That's how I got the new project started.

Since this is the title track off the EP, what was the inspiration behind it?

The very first version of "Silver Tides" was actually a house track influenced by the god Pomo—his use of synths is amazing and his chords are absolutely breathtaking. I wasn't too happy with the track so I played around with it some more and tried switching it up completely. It worked, thankfully - it's probably the salute track I enjoy the most, mainly because of the mood it sets, I guess. As for the title: back in 2013, I released a tracked called "Diamond Glares," I remember feeling like I'd made a huge step up from my previous stuff, which obviously isn't something people tend to feel all the time. Last year, I released this track via Rooftops Horizon, entitled "Gold Rush," this year I'm releasing "Silver Tides." So yeah, diamond, gold, silver... may or may not have to do with my love for video games like Pokémon and Zelda.

What can fans expect from the project and what do you hope to achieve with Silver Tides?

As for what I want to achieve with the salute project: it is simple - I want people to enjoy my music, I want it to evoke all types of feelings, and I want people to dance to it. I'm currently working on gathering ideas for a live show that will include visuals, as I think the visual aspect of a music project is always really important. Aside from that.. more EPs, albums, singles, remixes, pictures, all that jazz. I feel there is so much an artist can explore, whether it's performing arts or visuals arts. The exploration part of the process is what I'm looking forward to.

Check out more of salute's music over on his Soundcloud, including his incredible remix of Drake's "How Bout Now" and stay tuned for new music.
