Kanye West isn't much of a tweeter these days, but this gem from last October remains one of the man's best tweets (which is really saying something).

— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) October 11, 2014It was a perplexing statement of fact from Kanye. How does one smile by not smiling? Is Kanye smiling on the inside when he doesn't smile? How does one inwardly smile? This a conversation that's not worth having, which is great, because Kanye went ahead and explained his lack-of-smiley faces at The Daily Front Row's inaugural Fashion Los Angeles Awards last night.
He was in attendance to present an award to Mazdack Rassi, the Creative Director of Milk Studios, a man who Kanye once called a "visionary." During his eight-minute speech, Kanye didn't expand on his iHeartMedia stunt and play new music, but he did share an anecdote on why he damn-well doesn't smile:
"Back when I was working on Yeezus, I saw this book from the 1800s and it was velvet-covered with brass and everything," West said. "I looked at all these people's photos and they look so real and their outfits were incredible and they weren't smiling and people, you know the paparazzi, always come up to me, ‘Why you not smiling?' and I think, not smiling makes me smile...When you see paintings in an old castle, people are not smiling cause it just wouldn't look as cool."
There you have it. Kanye doesn't smile because smiling sometimes doesn't "look as cool" when you're dressing like a God. Speaking of, Kanye also shared his thoughts on how he thinks fashion, art, and design can change the world:
"Everyone has some form of fashion every single day. We have the power to change the world. I believe that through design, because design is the closest to truth, problem solving truth is the closest to love, and love is the closest thing to God, and God is love."
He wrapped up his speech by declaring, "I don't know if I even made one fucking good point." Now that's how you end a stream of consciousness.
