In a press release, the legendary Ruff Ryders MC announced that his eighth studio album, Redemption of the Beast, will be released on January 13 through his independent label, Seven Arts Entertainment. In total, the project will feature 16 unreleased songs from X, as well as a 35-minute DVD that will give fans a behind the scenes look at DMX's life. This project will mark DMX's first album release since he dropped Undisputed back in 2012.

The surprise release of this album follows up DMX's recent appearance in Chris Rock's popular film, Top Five, in which X made a cameo as himself in a jail scene with Rock. The album will be available for purchase on iTunes next week, but until then, fans can check out the official tracklist for the project, which includes appearances from Freeway and Jannyce, below.

UPDATE 1/8/2015: Seven Arts Entertainment has released a statement about the upcoming album, which clarifies that the songs were actually supposed to be put out in 2012 following X's Undisputed album. They assure that the music is an authentic release from DMX, but that the songs aren't his most recent material. Earlier this week, Swizz Beatz took to Instagram to question the project, and announce that he and DMX were working on their own album together. Read the full statement below.

Hello-

“Seven Arts is pleased to release the second album from the 52 masters acquired by Seven Arts from DMX and his producers in 2012. DMX and his team fully cooperated on the production of this album. ‘Redemption of the Beast’ was the second album planned for release with DMX in September of 2012, following the release of 'Undisputed'. These new masters represent the best of this legendary artist and offer production by some of the best in the industry. All fans are invited to listen to the music, which is the real thing, the ‘rough and ready’ of DMX. The music and artistry speaks for itself.”
