Complex TV has teamed with radio and digital entrepreneur Al Lindstrom to present his annual "Hip-Hop Award Season." The series features a panel of well-respected journalists and experts alike weighing in on four different categories: "Rookie of the Year," "Most Improved," "6th Man of the Year," and "MVP." This year's panelists include Joe La Puma (Director of Content Strategy, Complex), Brian "B.Dot" Miller (Content Director, Rap Radar), Reggie Ossé a.k.a. Combat Jack (Host, The Combat Jack Show), Charlamagne Tha God (Host, Power 105's The Breakfast Club), Jeff Sledge (A&R Executive; Host, Pop Life Podcast), as well as Jayson Rodriguez (Editorial Director, REVOLT TV), who also handles moderator duties. Stay tuned as we unveil their round table debate for each category this week.

In the third segment for Al Lindstrom's "Hip-Hop Award Season," the panelists debate which rapper takes home the "6th Man of the Year" award for 2014. As Jayson Rodriguez explains at the top, the category is defined by an artist who is on the cusp of becoming a legitimate star, regardless of their tenure in the rap game.

The nominees for this year are Gunplay, Young Thug, Travi$ ScottMigos, YG, and Boosie Badazz. Thug and YG were previously nominated for "Rookie of the Year," and both certainly owned their respective lanes, while Travi$ Scott dropped one the best projects this year with Days Before Rodeo. Migos continued their impressive output with a handful of hit singles in 2014, and Boosie made a triumphant return after being locked up for five years. Gunplay stays in Rick Ross' shadow, but is one hit away from his moment in the spotlight, according to Charlamagne Tha God.
