Taylor Swift's "1989" Is Projected to Have the Best-Selling Week Since 2002

Eminem has had the record for more than 10 years.

No album released in 2014 has gone platinum. It's a frightening stat for the music industry, but there's at least one artist immune to it: Taylor Swift. Her new album, 1989, is now projected to reach 1.3 million sales in its opening week.

If projections are right, she would not only have the record for sales in 2014; Swift would have the best-selling week since Eminem's The Eminem Show in 2002. Official numbers won't come in until next Wednesday, but projections have continued to climb. When 1989 dropped on Monday it was projected to move 900,000 units. On each of the next three days the projections jumped: to 1 million, 1.2 million, and then 1.25 million.

At this rate we wouldn't be surprised if 1.3 million ends up too low. TSwift is really out here.
