Virginia rapper Black Kray's 700 Dagreez album, released this October through his own Goth Money Records, riffed on the album art from Juvenile's 1998 classic, but was more along the lines of the recent output of fellow DMV native Yung Gleesh, with slurry chants over lush, cavernous production. "Daytona 500 (28s Onah Nascar)" was an easy highlight, with a beat from Blizzed Out that sounded like melting icicles. Its video, directed by Will Hoopes (best known for Chief Keef's gorgeous "Citgo" video), honors the car homage, with Kray in full Nascar gear. Black Kray opens for Yung Gleesh tonight in DC, and on Monday in NYC at Santos Party House.
