The last six months in particular have been an exciting renaissance for dubstep in the global bass music scene, with 140 tempo, 2-step sounds again finding their way into the backbone of so many tracks. Where that sound initially played itself out with endless repetition years ago, it's once again a sound for sore ears as mimicry efforts have moved on to other genres. Decadon and KiZER first linked up to create "Thump" as a deep and groovy midtempo piece, and now Iowa's Kill OG has stepped in with his dubstep flair and turned the track into a hair-yanking riddim tune that defies annoying tropes associated with the sound. Highly aggressive but still enjoyably musical, this remix harkens back to classic Rusko and Caspa sounds, complete with dub reggae vocal samples and drops that'll take your head off if you're not careful.
