Last Thursday, President Barack Obama hosted a concert called "Salute to the Troops: In Performance at the White House" in honor of Veteran's Day. The show, which included performances from musical legends Mary J. Blige, Willie Nelson, and John Fogerty, featured a touching poetry reading from Common. Titled "This War We Fight," the poem touched on everything from veterans and their families to the importance of helping children become teaches, doctors, and lawyers. Today, Common releases a video of him performing "This War We Fight."
The last time Common read poetry at the White House conservative critics were pretty upset. Fox Nation called the rapper "vile" and even referred to him as a "cop killer." Let's hope this time is different.
