Are you familiar with the term ghost mixing? It's similar to ghost producing (where someone is making the actual music while another person puts their name on it), but rarely is only heard of in the radio space. There have been some conversations on if it's the right thing to do, with some good points being brought up on both sides. In a perfect world, everyone putting their name on a mix, song, or radio show would be the one pushing the buttons and mixing the sounds, but this world is far from perfect.

Earlier this week, Mat Zo commented on ghost mixing, letting it be known that Matan Sagal has been mixing The Mat Zo Mix for a bit, and will continue to do so. Why? Because, as Mat puts it, "[i]ts simply not viable to be a touring dj + producer + radio dj. There must be a trade off." Which makes sense—we've spoken time and again about how a successful EDM artist has to do more than make beats. They need to be a DJ, and need to make sure they're keeping a steady schedule ahead of them, as the more gigs they pull, the bigger their paychecks will be. It's just the way the world works. That said, at least he's honest about it. It's understandable, and keeps things honest in terms of what you should expect when you tune in to The Mat Zo Mix: dope new Mat Zo music and some expert selection from Matan Sagal.

And hell, when he's live, he's ill; he's even got some scratching up his sleeve. And if you want to see Mat really throw down, tune into the #ABGT100 show, streaming live from Madison Square Garden tomorrow night:
