If you haven't been following the 19-year-old Memphis rapper Jon Waltz, now's the time to start. We've got the exclusive premiere of his new EP, Alyss. The seven-song project is influenced by Alice in Wonderland, and if you check out his interactive website you can learn about the background of each song and the characters on the EP. Alyss, who Waltz says has nothing on Victoria, is a troubled party girl who he admits isn't so different from himself.
Waltz has drawn comparisons to Drake for his ability to craft hooks and seamlessly weave between rapping and singing, as well as his introspection, but with the world his tight lyricism paints and his recurring character Alyss (Waltz's Sherane), comparisons to Kendrick Lamar should also be fair game.
