A Day in the Desert is The next Burning Man

It's not frequented by Silicon Valley CEOs or potentially owned by a rap mogul. Tickets won't sell out in five minutes, and you don't have to prep your art car all year to survive it. But for those of us who didn't make it to the playa this year (or ever) and can't get a week off work (without quitting) there's a shining beacon of hope a few hours west of LA and it's called A Day in the Desert.

As all the great festivals once began, ADitD was once a gathering of friends on the expansive property of a welcoming benefactor. Year one was a party, year two had some legs, and year three has now really opened up interested festival goers, with an impressive line-up of music, yoga, and speakers as well as an all-inclusive leave your wallet and bad vibes in the car kind of vibe.

If you made it this far your probably like, wait, all-inclusive? And I'm over here sitting behind my MacBook like "yeah, I said it." If you can spare the extra $200 for a ticket to the event then you might as well be in heaven because the music, the camping, the food, the yoga, and, yes, even the booze comes with that low low sticker price.

Sponsored by SUP Magazine, located in Pioneertown, CA, and running on October 11, 2014—you won't experience the lines, security, and festration (that's festival frustration, baby birds) that you'd experience at a your average event. Instead you've just got perfect, blue desert skies and a 250-person crowd of new friends.

I spoke to one of the organizers, Marisa, and her perspective on the event, as well as festivals in general, was refreshing. "I want our attendees to leave their wallet and cell phone in the car," she told me, "if you're ordering a drink at 1 am, I don't want you thinking 'Do I have cash' I want you to grab you drink and get back to the party."

So do we, Marisa. So do we.

Be sure to check out the line-up below, and scoop your tickets ASAP.
