While the seriously dull sounds of the big room craze slowly but surely seem to be dissipate, the aesthetic is really just evolving and refining. Oliver Heldens, one of 2014’s biggest breakout stars, brings his own futuristic take on tech house to the big room and Sander Van Doorn has been slaying the big room even before that name existed, so a collaboration of this magnitude would have to be special. Heldens hooked up with Sander Van Doorn (and his label Doorn Records) to release a new track called "This" on October 6. There are no hardstyle-esque kicks nor metallic rave synth leads. There are no chopped and skewed and screwed diva vocal tracks. “This” is simply a techno track. There might be some re-branding of it depending who you ask, but to me this is some heavy-handed minimal techno with it’s gyrating yet filling low-end.
