If you've followed my posts at all throughout the year, I've been trying to make a point from time to time to cover more of the pop impulse in this dance music thing. Not cheesy pop per se, but definitely things that certainly follow this impulse in the "right" way. One of the most prevalent crossovers of the year has continued to happen in the 100BPM world. Rap and R&B have a very happy marriage with all things at this tempo and the Indiana trifecta of Action Jackson, Lemi Vice, and Cool Hand Lex have just laced us with a tasty flip of Rich Gang and Young Thug's "Lifestyle" joint that's been a steady hit percolating for the later half of the summer. Sure they trimmed off Rich Homie Quan from the equation, but the vibes have been amplified in all the right ways. They've pushed the tempo, added in a number of on point melodic elements and made this bang so much harder for the club. Open format DJs looking to push this vibe at peak time just got a free new weapon for the crates.
