Marvin Humes (yes, he of JLS fame) together with The White N3rd and JKAY make up LuvBug—a long-time collaborative team of UK producers and DJs who, on September 28, will release their debut single, the Talay Riley-featuring "Resonance". As you'd expect, there will be a couple of remixes to go with it, but Friend Within's reworking of "Resonance" could well be the hardest tech-house banger you'll hear this side of 2014.
Earnest, pained vocals swoop and soar in ways that Sam Smith could only hope for. But that's only the half of it; an urgent bassline, chest-rattling drums and crisp snares come together neatly to drive forward what would otherwise be an airy piece of seduction. Eschewing traditional house vocals for more R&B vocals like this is increasingly becoming part for the course in dance music, but is that a bad thing? No. No, it is not.
