It was a few years ago, writing for another publication, that I got properly introduced to Getter. It was a different time: dubstep wasn't the dirty word many have made it out to be, but many were starting to wane on the sound, allowing for a number of producers to sneak in and start establishing their foundation. Getter's one of those guys, and I've been peeping his progression ever since I just got put onto him. And while dubstep can mean many things to many different people, mixes like this help me remember the sound that got a lot of people into the sound in the first place. For me, I love the chilled, subdued tones, but in this Shambhala mix, Getter highlights the refreshing side of the scene; the producers like Dubloadz and Barely Alive and, yes, Getter, that are keeping that tried and true, bass-heavy hypnosis going. He doesn't stick totally to the dubstep side of things; you get a smattering of Flume and GANZ in there, letting us know that his love of bass music doesn't appear to know boundaries. If you were looking to pre-game your weekend, this is the 61-minute mix you need.
