So apparently Australia is some kind of modern day Athens or Florence for electronic music; everything from there is fire. Here I was thinking they were all a bunch of Crocodile Dundees and Energizer Guys. (By the way, all my cultural references are from the '80's because I'm 60-years-old.) They're geniuses, though. They make beautiful music that one sit down and listen to and dissect. From What So Not to Cut Copy to Ta-ku, they're on a roll. They might even be the best. One of the labels at the center of this phenomenon is Future Classic out Sydney. I don't think I can name one bad release by them.

Coming up on September 26 is a release by downtempo producer Thrupence from Melbourne and they're giving this one out for free to pique your interest. While all my references may be from the '80s, Thrupence is definitely channeling the '90s with this track. It's like a mix of golden era RZA production with Moby. It's a beautiful, delicate creature. Something you can chew on.
