Kaytranada's unique blend of electronic, hip-hop, and lo-fi R&B has certainly not fallen on deaf ears, with the 21-year-old producer/DJ capturing a musical flavor that fans across the world have been gravitating toward. His 2013 release Kaytra TODO solidified his presence in the scene, and Kaytranada has only upped his exposure with recent collaborations alongside Mobb Deep and Vic Mensa.
Now signed to XL Recordings, the Montreal-based artist has his sights set on expanding to a larger audience, and his new single "Leave Me Alone" should count as a step in that direction. The record features a groovy synth melody and a vocal assist from fellow Montreal artist Shay Lia, who steals the show with her yearning croon. "Leave Me Alone" was played a few days back on Benji B's BBC Radio 1 show, but today Complex premieres the record in full without the radio wave fanfare. Just as it should be experienced.
"Leave Me Alone" is off Kaytranada's upcoming EP, which will be released later this year. In the meantime, he will be touring across the country starting in September, with shows in Seattle, Los Angeles, and Brooklyn. Kaytranada is also scheduled to perform a number of shows overseas. His full tour dates can be found below, with tickets already available for select shows on his Facebook page.
