TMZ has released a portion of Kanye West's deposition transcript from his 2013 paparazzi battery case this morning. During the depo with Nate Goldberg, with the lawyer for the photographer, Ye compares the way celebs are treated by the press and paparazzi to people fighting for civil rights in the 1960s. Kanye also got pretty offended when Goldberg brought up his lyrics from "Flashing Lights" and didn't censor his use of the n-word.
"I mean in the '60s people used to hold up 'Die N****r' signs when my parents were in the sit-ins," Kanye said. Goldberg asked if he equates the struggle of blacks in the past with celebrities today to which Kanye answered, "Yes, 100 ... I equate it to discrimination. I equate it to inequalities."
According to the report, Ye seemed sarcastic for most of the deposition. When asked about his current residence, he just replied, "Earth."
"I'm the smartest celebrity you've ever f***ing dealt with. I'm not Britney Spears," Kanye said during the meeting. "I'm in the business of trying to make dope s**t for the world. You're in the business of representing scums and trying to make as much money as long as there's this lapse in the law."
Here's to hoping the video of this deposition arrives quickly so that it can be placed in the "Deposition Hall of Fame" along with Justin Bieber and Lil Wayne.
