This one is unexpected. Friction's a guy who's been constantly elevating himself within the scene, but even now he still tends to surprise me. His latest is a remix of Childish Gambino's "3005," which might be the biggest hit Donald Glover's had in his career. Keeping with the single's airy, fond vibe, Friction channels the feels from the piano and the hook and crafts a solid drum & bass take for the ages. He wins with taking things down a notch for the verse before building it back up to the warm main bit of the tune. Kind of weird how dnb remixes of current hits are few and far between these days, but maybe Friction's turned it around. This one drops on September 8 via Glassnote / Island.
