Flume is out here just writing whatever kind of blueprint he wants for his remix work. While standard electronic music cuts range from the six-to-eight minute length, he's out here like "you know what? I'm just going to turn in this 10-minute official remix for Arcade Fire." Better yet, they took it. They almost had to. Flume's take on "Afterlife" is almost unrecognizable if you're a fan of the original; the first three-and-a-half minutes feel like a choir chanting as your soul departs from your physical being. The tune then delves into one of those beats that's fast-paced, but doesn't hit hard. Vocals come in, and a tempo/rhythm is established, but this still sits in a sinister pocket that just lets you know that Flume is unfuckwithable. No word on when/where this will end up, but it's a proper journey.
