Police officials say that the shooting that took place outside of the Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Thursday after the ScHoolboy Q concert was likely not a random event. "This is not just a coincidence. We think there is probably more to it than that," said Jacki Kelley, spokeswoman for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. "It does seem to be more targeted than random." The shooting injured three people in a white SUV that ScHoolboy was also a passenger of.
All three victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries; one has since been released from the Denver Health Medical Center. The SUV drove away from the venue and was stopped at 6th Avenue and Kalamath Street, where ScHoolboy and another passenger were temporarily handcuffed. Police have thus far made no arrests in the case, and have also not determined a motive.
Portions of the concert's proceeds, which also featured performances from Nas and Flying Lotus, went to three local area charities, the Gang Rescue and Support Project of Denver, Preserve the Rocks, and Helping Our People Excel.
