A little over a year ago, a mysterious 16-track project supposedly by Jai Paul appeared on a brand new Bandcamp page, supposedly owned by the XL artist. It was referred to as his self-titled debut, but due to his sporadic releases, plenty of people doubted whether or not it was an official release. Unfortunately, days later, XL and Jai Paul confirmed that it was not official and that someone stole the material straight from Jai Paul.

However, there's good news this time around. In a new interview with Dazed, Rodaidh McDonald, XL's in-house producer, briefly spoke on what Jai Paul is currently up to, and revealed that he's still in the studio working on his debut album.

Jai Paul is a bit of an enigma, isn’t he? Have you worked much with that guy?
I did something with him last week, some vocal production on a new song. We finished it, whether he wants to put it out or not I don’t know. It’s just a very long process for him I guess, he’s been working on (his album) for years. One of the things that I sort of identified was that he might benefit from some help using vocals. But his music sounds so good, he doesn’t need any help, I think he’s perfect.

The XL artist did his first and only interview, ever, with Dazed Digital which you can read here while we anxiously await his debut album.
