Moreso than what Disclosure's done for the sound, style and feel of UK garage, recent Astralwerks signee Duke Dumont's paeans to the halcyon days of '90s house music could have been lifted from any set spun by Tony Humphries at Ministry of Sound in 1993. Out August 24 on his own Blasé Boys Club label, his latest single "Won't Look Back" is already Zane Lowe's "Hottest Record" on BBC Radio 1. The track is guided by a husky and throaty powerhouse female vocal that could easily be mistaken for Martha Wash, but is someone else. The style is a smooth and effortless four on the floor, aided by spiraling and bouncy synthetics, that occasionally drop away to allow ample space to let the airy vocal soar. Following in the footsteps of UK chart-toppers "Need U (100%)" and "I Got U," Dumont's hot streak appears to most certainly be continuing on for one more single.
