To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the hip-hop classic Illmatic, we reunited Nasty Nas and Faith Newman, the A&R rep for his debut album. In part four of this five-part series Faith talks about doing back-up vocals for LL Cool J's "Let's Get Ill," leading Nas to reminisce about the LL vs. Kool Moe Dee saga, hearing stories of LL getting harassed in clubs, even witnessing the Queens superstar getting booed—despite his fresh MCM jacket. Faith goes on to share memories of seminal NYC hip-hop spots like Latin Quarter and Union Square. Keep checking back all week for more of this one-of-a-kind conversation as we take a trip down memory lane.
