In the drum & bass scene, not too many labels have the history that Goldie's Metalheadz has. So much talent has been featured on that imprint, from guys like Dillinja and Optical to newer pillars, like Jubei and Lenzman. Throughout their history, Metalheadz has come together for some dynamic compilations, with the most impactful being the Platinum Breakz series. The first two were things of legend, helping bring a lot of heads into the drum & bass fold. What's crazy is that it has been about 13 years since the release of Platinum Breakz 3, with many drum & bass heads anxiously awaiting (and speculating on) the release of the forth edition. Well, DAD has the official scoop straight from Metalheadz that Platinum Breakz 4 is primed and ready, with an official release date of April 28 for this massive compilation, which will feature an insane collection of material from Metalheadz crew past and present that includes Calibre, Digital & Spirit, Om Unit, Artificial Intelligence, Dub Phizix & Skeptical, Heist, The Invaderz, Ulterior Motive, Lenzman, and plenty more.
This isn't just a one-and-done compilation release, though. The sampler, which you can pre-order right now, is due out on March 31 and features two of the album's cuts: DLR & Script's intriguing slice of new-school Metalheadz sound with "Blue Room" (which features the vocal stylings of Martyna Baker, who you should be up on via her work with Goldie and Lenzman) backed with a massive slice of halftime dub from Digital, "Mini Cooper." On April 14, a special limited-edition 10" vinyl sampler will be released featuring Artificial Intelligence's DRS-featured "War Horse" alongside Loxy & Resound's "Paradigms," a tune which will be exclusive to that 10". The April 28 Platinum Breakz 4 will be released in vinyl, CD and digital formats, with the digital version getting five exclusive tracks added. It's a hefty release, but with all of that time to truly cultivate a compilation of this nature, it's well worth it. But even THAT'S not all...
Metalheadz is partnering up with Do Androids Dance... hell, that might be the wrong way of putting it.
