Back in October, Martin Garrix had announced that his single "Animals" had gone platinum. At the time, Your EDM called this into question based on RIAA standards, before noting that platinum certifications outside of the United States are vastly different. We have to remember that EDM is an international thing, and that no matter what, cracking the U.S. market is still the pinnacle. Since October, Garrix's "Animals" gained steam, netting him a deal with Universal as well as linking up with Scooter Braun. Back in February, "Animals" hit Gold status stateside, and he picked up a platinum plaque for the single in Australia earlier this month, but over night he announced that "Animals" has officially toppled the RIAA platinum certification. That's one million sales of this single in around 10 months... just in America. That's pretty crazy, and will no doubt have the eyes of the onlookers placed solely on Garrix, who recently got announced as being a part of the BBC Radio 1 Residency as well as having a slot at Lollapalooza. Dude could buy out the bar in Los Angeles, but isn't allowed to drink from it. No matter how we feel about the actual track, we have to give Garrix his props.
