This week kicked off with Super Bowl XLVIII and although the game was horribly boring, music kept interests and ratings high. Despite the game belonging to the Seahawks the entire night, Bruno Mars brought in the biggest TV audience in Super Bowl history—yes, even bigger than Bey's massive performance last year.

The intersection between sports and music stayed in the news, but in a totally appalling way. Boxing promoter Damon Feldman, who weeks ago got George Zimmerman to sign up for a "celebrity" boxing match, announced DMX had signed up as opponent. X waffled throughout the week and it's since been canceled, but the headlines kept rolling out all week.

Bruno Mars Super Bowl Performance

Bruno Mars' Super Bowl Halftime show had the largest ratings in the big game's history. Sorry, Beyoncé.

Date: February 4

"Bruno Mars' Super Bowl performance last Sunday was the most-watched halftime show in history. The crooner's drum solo and smooth retro dance moves proved a hit with fans, pulling in 115.3 million viewers during the big game. Bruno beat out past heavyweight halftime performers like Beyoncé, who drew 110.8 million viewers in 2013, and Madonna who had 114 million viewers in 2012."—Sowmya Krishnamurthy

Celebrity Boxing Match

DMX's vow to beat up George Zimmerman and "piss on him" seemed like it would come to light. It won't.

Date: February 5

"TMZ quoted a celebrity boxing promoter, which is a real job, named Damon Feldman saying DMX was selected out of more than 15,000 applicants. DMX's qualifications are apparently that no one wants to beat Zimmerman's ass as much as DMX, although it's tough to tell if that's TMZ's editorializing, or a paraphrase of Mr. Feldman."-David Drake

The fight has since been canceled.

Justin Bieber Pot Plane

Justin Bieber hot-boxed his private jet on the way to the Super Bowl and learned his pilot was nothing like Snoop Dogg in Soul Plane

Date: February 5

"Justin Bieber continues to fly high. According to NBC News, the troubled singer and his father flew a private jet from Canada to New Jersey on Friday (1/31) filled with weed smoke. Apparently, the smoke got so bad that the pilots were forced to wear oxygen masks.

'The captain of the flight stated that he warned the passengers, including Bieber, on several occasions to stop smoking marijuana,' recounted the official report of the trip. This news comes after reports that the same private jet was detained after landing for a 'strong odor of pot' but ultimately no drugs of any kind were discovered on the plane."—Sowmya Krishnamurthy

Kim and Kanye Wedding

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West bump up their wedding date... which could subsequently mean that Kanye is going to bump up progress on his next album, too. (We can only hope).

Date: February 5

"Kanye West and Kim Kardashian can't wait to get married. The celebrity pair is moving their nuptials up to May after initially setting a July date. The rapper/producer and reality TV star will also feature their daughter North in the affair."—Sowmya Krishnamurthy
