Back in October, we told you that the legendary Dance Mania Records was going to be putting out a special two-disc compilation, Strut Records presents Hardcore Traxx: Dance Mania Records 1986-1997. At the time, it was slated for a January 2014 release, but this project's finally got a date of release: February 11. For those of you who might know that Chicago is the mecca of house, and can rattle off a number of influential tunes from that era, this documentary will give you a great look at what the label was built on. Direct from the source (i.e. label founder Ray Barney alongside artists Parris Mitchell, Duane Buford [aka Duane & Co[ and Wax Master), you get a chance to hear about this influential label's story from the bottom up.
