For Nemo Achida, the issue of gun violence is personal. His hometown of Lexington, Kentucky has seen an increase within the last decade, and it has resulted in the deaths of several of his close friends. His latest song, "Nowadays They Spark," addresses the topic of gun violence in his community, but does so in a manner that does not come off as preachy. Part of the reason is that Nemo is able to sum up his emotions in a concise, powerful manner. "I hate it," he repeats bluntly. The synth-heavy production from High Def Raj knocks, making this a song that will not only get listeners to think, but will engage their ears musically.
