Nas visited Harvard University on Thursday to give his blessing to a fellowship created in his name. The fellowship, formally known as The Nasir Jones Hip-Hop Fellowship, is awarded to two scholars every year who are chosen by a Harvard faculty member.

Having Nas' name attached to the fellowship is a major coup for the University, as he is often considered one of the greatest MC's of all time and one who pushed the culture forward with his knowledge and social commentary. This is especially important to Marcyliena Morgan, a professor of African American Studies, as she points out to the NYTimes that he "describes the landscape of life in ways that are incredibly touching and interesting."

Nas has shared candid pictures pictures of his journey on his Twitter seen below.
