When Childish Gambino's new song "Sweatpants" leaked the other night, he wasn't upset so much about the fact that the music got out to the fans, but rather that it had come out in a way that threw off his creative rollout plan:

im pissed. this song was not supposed to come out tonight

im trying to create one of the more imaginative rollouts, and other people's lust for money and impatience is ruining it
to be clear, im not talking about my fans, or blogs, or anyone who post my music after leaks. i want my music out

but it could've been better

That plan, which has included a clever lyric video over webcam with porn actress Abella Anderson, impromptu listening sessions in parks, and a series of upcoming intimate shows in the living rooms of various mansions, has been fun to watch in action. The more Childish Gambino does stuff like this, the more it suggests he's got something exciting in store.

The 14-second trailer Gambino released last night—cryptically titled, in true nu-Gambino fashion, [NO MOUTH EMOJI]—is the latest testament to that, featuring long shots of the faces of Donald Glover and another woman paired with a beautiful falsetto that hints that the new album will feature quite a range of performances.

Because the Internet is due out December 10 and features appearances from Chance the Rapper, Jhené Aiko, Lloyd and Azealia Banks. It's now available for pre-order on iTunes. Check out the full tracklist here and watch the trailer above.
