The Best Remixes of Breach's "Jack"

When you look back at 2013, Breach's "Jack" is going to be one of the tracks that's defined the dance music scene for this year. It was simple, effective, and mashed down any club it was dropped in. So ill, it went from being a monster on Dirtybird to being re-released via Atlantic Records of all imprints. Like any great track in this day and (Internets) age, it was flipped into a grip of remixes by a number of able-bodied producers.

On the date of the release of Breach's next single, "Everything You Never Had (We Had It All)" (which was released via Big Beat / Atlantic / Ninja Tune), we figured it made sense to look back at these "Jack" remixes, and find out who did it the most justice. Let's jack!

Breach - "Jack (Tom Forester & Kava Groove Remix)"

Not Available Interstitial

That "Jack" vocal is infectious, and can work well in a number of different zones. Tom Forester & Kava Groove turned it into a more vibrant, driving tune that could work perfectly in some of today's more mainstream clubs. The VIP needs to jack, too.

Breach - "Jack (Baltic Remix)"

Not Available Interstitial

Baltic's throwback cut is a deep banger if we can even call it that. With a hip-shaking melody twisted in over the techy rhythms, Baltic's remix is a daring change from the original, but no doubt still a great one. It's a new take on an already insta-classic tune so any well-executed cut like this always a welcome addition to the crates.

Breach - "Jack (Sluggers Remix)"

Not Available Interstitial

Florida's Sluggers first popped up on to the DAD radar when they appeared in the most listened Essential Mix of all time. With an EP forthcoming on the OWSLA Nest and a dose of free numbers on their SoundCloud, Sluggers has been preparing for a strike. Their "Jack" remix is just a taste of it as they drop a bit of acid into the mix to send you over the edge.

Breach - "Jack (Willy Joy & Lambo Bootleg)"

Not Available Interstitial

Don't let the Daft Punk-sounding chords in the intro throw you off; this bootleg of "Jack" goes from "chilled" to "massive trap booty" in no time. Lambo and Willy have been making their moves in the trap/twerk scenes, and to hear them throw a turnt curveball into the "Jack" party is hella welcome.

Breach - "Jack (Kilo Remix)"

Not Available Interstitial

Kilo's irresistable take is almost charming with it's groovy, bouncy, percussion and compelling vocal twists. The UK producer's cut is just so funky that some dancefloors might not know what to do with it, but put this in a music-lover's ear and they won't forget it for a year.

Breach - "Jack (Surfdisco Melbourne Bounce Remix)"

Not Available Interstitial

Surfdisco might be more known for their bass-heavy deep house sound, but for "Jack" they went the opposite direction and twisted this into a Melbourne Bounce jam. We already put you up on Melbourne Bounce DJs you need to know, but consider this additional required listening. This zany, upbeat cut is the kind that tickles dancefloors into a tizzy.

Breach - "Jack (Codes Remix)"

Not Available Interstitial

Codes' unveiled his disco-house inspired Brooklyn Bounce sound with his DAD mix and his "Jack" remix is the perfect embodiment. With almost speed garage tempos, wobbly basslines, and tantalizingly funky grooves, Codes' "bounce" is just on point. His "Jack" remix takes this to a whole new level as you get the familiarity of the smash hit, and you get to appreciate in a whole new way.

Breach - "Jack (Mak & Pasteman Remix)"

Not Available Interstitial

Up-and-coming duo Mak & Pasteman turned heads earlier this year when they unleashed "Jimmy Kendricks" - a Kendrick Lamar-sampling house cut - so imagine the feels when we saw that these two had been tapped for an official "Jack" touch? Their take is a techy deep house cut in the same sort of bass-heavy style that's currently overtaking the UK underground. Too. Groovy.

Breach - "Jack (Sleepy Tom Bootleg)"

Not Available Interstitial

Van City's Sleepy Tom laced us with this back in July and we've been bumpin' it since. Tom's edit gives "Jack" a big room tribal spin that doesn't quite fit in any one box - just the way we like it.

Breach - "Jack (DECiBEL Bootleg)"

Not Available Interstitial

UK trap beast DECiBEL flexed his footwork muscle on this bootleg, taking "Jack" into bass realms unheard of. His "little" edit rocks hard at 150BPM, with a consistent rumble flowing throughout this entire tune. Rough and rugged.

Breach - "Jack (Taiki & Nulight Remix)"

Not Available Interstitial

To be quite honest, we don't even know what to label this. It's primarily UK garage-inspired, but it also has bassline and house vibes to it. Regardless, Taiki & Nulight made an absolute weapon out of "Jack" with ethereal breakdowns and absolutely tickling basslines, the kind of basslines that just send a club into the WEIRD. The best kind of weird, the kind where you truly have no idea what's coming next.

Breach - "Jack (Calibre Remix)"

Not Available Interstitial

Yes a lot of the "Jack" remixes are house cuts and that'd make sense as the original was as well, but Calibre came correct on his official drum & bass take. With intricate drum work laying the footwork, that soothing almost whisper that is the vocal samples, Calibre's liquid plays like a hynpnotic dream.

Breach - "Jack (Route 94 Remix)"

Not Available Interstitial

Of course a mystery producer rocked a mystery remix that we have little to no info on. Route 94's tracks might arguably be part of the reason why Skream's moved into more of a house/disco lane, and for this rework of "Jack," Route 94 does what he does best: spices up a banger with a '90s spin. Love the snare he chose in this one. Get your jack on.

Breach - "Jack (Tittsworth & Alex Eljaiek Remix)"

Not Available Interstitial

An officially-sanctioned (but not officially-released) from Tittsworth and Alex Elijaiek and you might expect a bodacious moombah bomb, but instead we get a deep and dark tech house anthem. The sultry original gets deeper and sexier with this in a whole new way with old-school tech vibes and new school bass.
