No, it's not a cover of Bill Withers's classic. Leave that kind of mediocre resuscitation to Maroon 5. (Not linking to it.) But it has a transcendent magic of its own.

Rapper-to-watch-out-for Vic Mensa was once a member of the now-defunct Kids These Days. While his group was grinding, the rapper watched his good friend Chance The Rapper ascend to the upper echelon of hip-hop rookie stardom. When that group dissolved, Vic began a solo career in earnest, releasing singles like "Orange Soda" and "Hollywood, LA" earlier this year. Those songs will join "Lovely Day" on INNANETAPE, due out Monday, September 30.

You can also check out Vic Mensa for a few dates on J. Cole and Wale's What Dreams May Come tour.
