Now this remix totally blindsided me. The original "Wastegash" by Mutated Forms dropped two years ago this month, and took things into an intriguing lane for the drum & bass scene. Applying a distinctly different rhythm, coupled with some sinister bass, this one had crowds rocking, and DJs like Grooverider championing it on Radio 1. Was there any talk of The Upbeats giving it a 2013 rerub? Who knows, but we love the way this one came out. The crew did the original justice, choosing to throw some tougher drums atop the original's hypnotic riddim, dropping their own flourishes and deviations at will but not straying far from the original's formula. And it works like gangbusters. Rockwell recently premiered this, but the audio down below is from Friction's Radio 1 program. Hopefully we'll get word on when this bad boy will drop; we'll go ahead and assume that, since Grid released the original, they'll be handling the release of the remix...
